They don’t fully go away, and I’ve stopped expecting them to. A few minutes of quiet before going on, focusing on the first song instead of the whole set, usually settles it enough to perform.
What’s the hardest part of staying independent?
Doing every job at once — artist, marketer, business owner, all in the same day. Nobody prepares you for how much of this is logistics rather than actual music.
Do you write with a specific audience in mind?
Not really — I write for what feels true first. If it connects with people who grew up between two worlds the way I did, that’s the audience finding itself in the work, not me writing to a target.
What keeps you motivated on the slow days?
Remembering that slow days are part of the actual process, not a sign something’s wrong. Consistency matters more than any single day feeling inspired.

Don’t wait for permission or perfect conditions. Start releasing, start learning from what actually happens when real people hear the work, and keep adjusting from there.
What’s something people misunderstand about you?
That the “old soul, new generation” thing is a marketing angle. It’s genuinely just how I grew up — dancehall roots and a phone in hand, at the same time, not one after the other.
